Difficult Situations and the Faithfulness of God

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. (Psalm 119:105. ESV.)

When faced with very difficult situations I have to look to God’s word for direction (especially when I feel like I am immersed in a fog, deep in circumstances). In order to make split second decisions I have to know God’s word well. And the only way to be familiar with the word of God is to study it regularly! (I never know when the knowledge He gives me is going to be called upon.)

God gives excellent instruction. He even prioritizes things for us…(i.e. God, government, city, & state authorities, spouse/parent, the body, etc.). So, when the flesh screams at me to address life’s occurrences one way and prickles with sin (i.e. frustration, anger, anxiety, fear, etc.), I am held accountable to act biblically no matter what!...regardless if it is witnessing (or involvement in) a car accident, dealing with an abusive boss or coworker, or confronting a loved one or friend who struggles with a gambling, drinking, or drug abuse problem, etc. Battling sin head on (whether someone else’s or my own) is never a pleasant experience…but God is still faithful!

You shall not…1) have any other gods before me, 2) have idols and worship them, 3) take the name of the Lord your God in vain, 4) murder, 5) commit adultery, 6) steal, 7) bear false witness against your neighbor, 8) covet your neighbor’s things. You shall…1) remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy and 2) honor your father and mother. (Exodus 20:3-17. ESV.)

See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ. (Colossians 2:8. ESV.)

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. (Romans 13:1. ESV.)

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5or rude.… it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. (1 Corinthians 13:4-6. ESV.)

For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives."…he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness. 11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it. (Hebrews 12:6-11. ESV.)

I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak, 37for by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." (Matthew 12:36-37. ESV.)

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it. (1 Corinthians 10:13. ESV.)

I am held to God’s laws and guidelines for His word says,
"If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” (John 14:15. ESV.)

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. (1 John 5:3. ESV.)
