I Know the Plans I Have for You

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jeremiah 29:11. ESV.)

Isaiah 55:8-9: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.

During seasons of the unknown, through the fog of uncertainty, or heartache of suffering, I find these pieces of scripture so a promise from a loving, protective Father. And not only is there security in God's will being for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28) but He has also provided:

HIS GRACE - which is sufficient (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Isaiah 43:2: When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

Isaiah 40:31: ...they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

1 Corinthians 2:5: ...that your faith might not rest in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.

THE WAY OF ESCAPE - so that temptation may be endured (1 Corinthians 10:13).

1 Corinthians 1:9: God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Daniel 3:17: If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.

2 Peter 2:9: ...then the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials, and to keep the unrighteous under punishment until the day of judgment,

- though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another (Romans 12:5) for support, biblical counsel, and encouragement.

1 Corinthians 10:17: Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread.

Ephesians 4:13: ...until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

Ephesians 4:25: Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.

1 Corinthians 12:27: Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.

PROVISIONS - to each according to what he or she needs (Matthew 6:25-34).

Luke 12:29-31: And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. 30 For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. 31 Instead, seek his kingdom, and these things will be added to you.

Matthew 6:27: And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life?

Philippians 4:6: not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

1 Peter 5:7: ...casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Job 38:41: Who provides for the raven its prey, when its young ones cry to God for help, and wander about for lack of food?

Matthew 10:31: Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.

Matthew 17:20: He said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you."

Matthew 6:8: ...your Father knows what you need before you ask him.

1 Timothy 4:8: for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come.

When the weight of affliction sits heavy on my shoulders and the air is thick with sweltering suspense, I immerse myself in Psalm 46:10 and let it wash over me.

"Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!" (Psalm 46:10. ESV.)
