A Bruised Reed He Will Not Break: Be Strong in the Lord

a bruised reed he will not break,
and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;
he will faithfully bring forth justice.
(Isaiah 42:3. ESV.)

Have you ever been in a season or situation that just seemed hopeless at times? Perhaps with a medical condition and a diagnosis or treatment cannot be found. Or, maybe a court case that appears to be going nowhere or is dragged on for years. Do you find yourself thinking, “Will the judge ever understand?” Possibly it’s a dead end job, lack of work, depression, or an exceptionally difficult and/or unhealthy relationship that might never change. Could it be a struggle with (or loved one who fights) an addiction or substance abuse issues?

I believe all of us face adversity and/or tribulations. But God’s word promises, “A bruised reed He will not break, and a faintly burning wick He will not quench.” Do you see it? A flame that looks to have gone out? But wait, there is the slightest hint of smoldering. A tiny bit of glowing and smoke. It has not quite gone out. How easy would it be to just lick you finger (and thumb) and snuff it? A cinch! Effortless! The difficult part is nurturing the fire so it can rekindle…or mending the battered reed that is ever so barely gripping. So fragile. So tempting to just throw it away and say, “It’s broken. It can’t be fixed. It will never stick.”

God holds on and so can we. He gingerly repairs and cares for that which is injured. He protects the dim spark so it does not die out. He does not discard it! He does not give up on it, lose hope, toss it aside, smother it, stomp it out, or leave it to wilt into nothingness.

The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.
(Psalm 34:18. ESV.)

Be wise! God provides all that we need (i.e. medicine, authorities for protection, pastors and teachers for counsel, the body of Christ for support, food, clothing, shelter, water, etc.)! But also, pray in your affliction, stand firm in the Word of God, put on the whole armor (Ephesians 6:10-20) EVERYDAY!

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. (Ephesians 6:10. ESV.)

[You] can do ALL THINGS through CHRIST who strengthens [you]. (Philippians 4:13. NKJV. Emphasis added.)

Love Changes Everything

Have I posted this yet? I cannot remember. I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

I first heard it performed by a SPECTACULAR singer on a cruise ship (of all places...where I once worked). I wish I could post his rendition here because it is so beautiful I almost cry every time I listen to it. But, Michael Ball does a wonderful job too. :) (And I heard a Michael Crawford (My personal favorite for "Phantom of the Opera" by the way) version also. The words to this song just go STRAIGHT TO MY HEART...but I am such a hopeless romantic!!! HOPELESS!

Michael Ball: Music Video (Youtube)

Michael Ball: Live Performance with Orchestra (Youtube)

Love, love changes everything
Hands and faces, earth and sky

Love, love changes everything
How you live and how you die

Love, love can make the summer fly
Or a night seem like a lifetime

Yes love, love changes everything
Now I tremble at your name
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Love, love changes everything
Days are longer, words mean more

Love, love changes everything
Pain is deeper than before

Love will turn your world around
And that world will last forever

Yes love, love changes everything
Brings you glory, brings you shame
Nothing in the world will ever be the same

Off into the world we go
Planning futures, shaping years
Love bursts in and suddenly all our wisdom disappears

Love makes fools of everyone
All the rules we make are broken

Yes love, love changes everyone
Live or perish in its flame

Love will never never let you be the same

Love will never never let you be the same

He Has Made Everything Beautiful in its Time

Be still, and know that I am God. (Psalm 46:10. ESV.)

God has me waiting. He’s had me waiting for quite a long time…many years in fact. Each day I wake with the hope, “Today is the day!” But God is still seemingly silent. I do see Him at work, tweaking something here, dishing out a spanking there, etc. But continually I am left standing motionless, abiding in Him. I cannot help but wonder, “For how long, Lord? My entire lifetime?”

Some days are painful…either to my heart, soul, or from being in one position for so long. Others are sweetly blessed, even in the face of adversity. And a few are frustrating as though I am walking against a nearly overpowering wind and not making much progress. When will the harsh breeze stop blowing so I can start sprinting?

When I think of faithful men and women of God who had a heart for Him and were pleasing in His sight yet were put on hold for a season, the following spring to mind:

  • 1. Joseph (who was sold into slavery and served time in prison for a crime he did not commit.)
  • 2. Hosea (whose wife that God ordained for him was a prostitute.)
  • 3. Sarah (wife of Abraham who was unable to have children until blessed with Isaac.)
  • 4. God’s people in the hands of Pharaoh (were slaves, oppressed, and killed until God released them and Moses led them to the Promised Land.)
  • 5. Jonah (who disobeyed God and was swallowed by a big fish.)
  • 6. Noah (who was told to build an ark and sit on it for over a month until the rain ended and flood waters receded.)
  • 7. David (whose life was threatened by King Saul, had to flee, and hang out until it was safe and Saul was no longer out to kill him.)
  • 8. Daniel (who was thrown into a lion’s den and had to survive until morning.)
  • 9. Abigail (who was married to a “harsh and foolish” man.)

In each of the above cases there was a time (by God’s design) for everything.

1For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven:
2a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; 3a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; 4a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; 5a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; 6a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; 7a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; 8a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.

9What gain has the worker from his toil? 10I have seen the business that God has given to the children of man to be busy with. 11He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. 12I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and to do good as long as they live; 13also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil—this is God’s gift to man.
14I perceived that whatever God does endures forever; nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. 15That which is, already has been; that which is to be, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away.
(Ecclesiastes 3:1-15. ESV.)

Please God, make me steadfast. Keep our eyes fixed on you and deliver us from evil. Amen.

Recycled Post: Small Town Girl, Great Big World

(Hum, that's a pretty lame title. Not sure what I was thinking but okay. Sorry everyone.)

I'm currently devoting time to a project and this post I originally published here on January 6, 2010 kind of goes along with that on which I am working. So, I felt it fitting to recycle it.

Behold, I am sending you out as sheep in the midst of wolves, so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. (Matthew 10:16. ESV.)

I was born and raised in a moderately small town (which is not so small anymore). But I am thankful to my King for sending me out in His vast world and showing me what a tiny pebble I am in such an immense ocean. He provided the means for me to travel…first through my parents (when I was in high school) and then following graduation, as an employee of a well known company. I was blessed to visit France, Switzerland, Italy, Singapore, Australia, and Taiwan.

Paris, France

Mount Pilatus in Lucerne, Switzerland

The Vatican City with Sistine Chapel, Rome Italy

The Colosseum, Rome Italy

In Asia the corporation for which I worked was highly publicized and in soaring demand. As a result, its employees were treated like celebrities whenever we went out in small or large groups. We were stopped in public, asked for our autographs, and requested to pose for pictures. It was quite humbling to be held to such standards. I'm just me, a daughter of the King.

Sight seeing in Singapore.

Visiting a zoo in Australia.

Taipei, Taiwan

All this to say, what an awesome God I serve!!!
For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. (Romans 1:20. ESV.)

I am so indescribably thankful for all I have seen, for knowing I am one in well over six billion people, and for humility! Who am I? I am merely a well digger…but that is a post for another day.

Be Not Dismayed, I Will Uphold You With My Righteous Right Hand

4By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks. (Hebrews 11:4. ESV.)

I did not sleep very well last night. My mind was reeling and though I try to preach to my body not to listen to my brain as it goes off on its tangents and swirls about (because I am not taking every thought captive) my body does not listen and ends up getting upset…especially my stomach.

Sometimes I cannot help but wonder about those who are true and faithful servants to God yet they suffer and sometimes die. There are so many throughout the events of the Old Testament and New Testament (in which we are still) times. Some were protected during their persecution and did not endure agony---like Daniel (in the lion’s den), Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (who were thrown into a “blazing furnace” yet walked around in there and came out unharmed).

However there were many others who underwent unimaginable torture (most of all, Christ Jesus) in being beaten, stoned, crucified, beheaded, etc. (like Stephen, Jesus and Peter, and John the Baptist to name a few).

8Cain spoke to Abel his brother. And when they were in the field, Cain rose up against his brother Abel and killed him. 9Then the LORD said to Cain, "Where is Abel your brother?" He said, "I do not know; am I my brother’s keeper?" 10And the LORD said, "What have you done? The voice of your brother’s blood is crying to me from the ground. (Genesis 4:8-10. ESV.)

I am sure it is easy for one to say, “Why would an all powerful, sovereign God allow this?” The faithful answers are:

28And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28. ESV.)

8For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
(Isaiah 55:8. ESV.)

10 "Be still, and know that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!"
(Psalm 46:10. ESV.)

9But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

But as someone who is waiting on the Lord (and has been for quite a while now), it is super easy to let doubt weasel it’s way into unguarded thoughts and the heart.

6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you. (Deuteronomy 31:6. ESV.)

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding.
(Proverbs 3:5. ESV.)

10fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
(Isaiah 41:10. ESV.)

What Are You Currently Reading?

I don't know about you but with summer comes a major change in our household schedule. As the COO (Chief Operations Officer) of my homestead (trumped only by the CEO (Chief Executive Officer) a.k.a hubs, it is my responsibility (among many others) to make sure each child stays focused, on track, and on time. Whether it is with school work, sports, other extra curricular activities, etc. But summertime brings with it yet another keep my crew busy and out of trouble!

This marvelous, favored season (of mine) also offers up a few more opportunities to sit down with a book...regardless if I am waiting at the pool (or another location) for the kiddos to finish playing or practice, at the park supervising time with friends, at the beach, or on the boat.

Aside from the bible, I am dabbling in two books and am seriously reading a third. The first DEADLY DECISIONS by Kathy Reichs I bought many months ago and have been falling in and out of it ever since. I stand on page 200 in chapter 22 and will continue to slowly make my way through. I suppose it is taking me so long because I am attached to the characters of the t.v. program "Bones" and though "Bones" is based on the books by Kathy Reichs involving a main character by the same name of "Temperance Brennan" she is nowhere near that of "Tempe" in the show. And, I have yet to come across a character the equivalent of "Booth".

The second book is HOW STELLA GOT HER GROOVE BACK by Terry McMillan which I have already read through once and completely enjoyed the first time around.

Third, is EAT, PRAY, LOVE by Elizabeth Gilbert. I watched the movie first and wondered what the book was like. Was the film spot on, way off, or somewhere in between. Also, I had questions regarding things I did not quite follow...which I will not mention here incase you have neither seen the flick nor read the book. I am now getting the answers to those questions within its pages. EAT, PRAY, LOVE is not a book about a follower of Christ so if you stick with Christian literature, this is not a book for you. Below is the trailer for the adaptation.

Good Housekeeping

Last week hubs asked for something new and exciting each evening for dinner. In an effort to accomplish this (since I never really learned to cook but can at least follow a recipe) I have turned to the GOOD HOUSEKEEPING COOKBOOK I found at the library and purchased for $0.50. Published in 1963 it has some great "old school" concoctions.

Last night we had delicious "Chicken Tropical" which kind of reminded me of "sweet and sour chicken" (but not so much sour).

Chicken Tropical
1 3-lb. Broiler-fryer, cut up
Seasoned flour (1/2C flour, 1tsp. Salt, 1/8 tsp. Pepper)
1/2 C shortening
1 tsp salt
1 C orange juice
2 Tbl brown sugar
2 Tbl vinegar
1 tsp ground nutmeg
1 tsp dried basil
12 small new potatoes
1 1-lb-13-oz. Can cling-peach slices, drained

Lightly coat chicken with seasoned flour. In hot shortening, in chicken fryer or large skillet, sauté chicken until golden on all sides. Sprinkle with 1 tsp salt. Combine orange juice, brown sugar, vinegar, nutmeg, and basil; pour over chicken. Place well-scrubbed new potatoes between and around chicken pieces. Cook, covered, over medium heat, 25 minutes, or until chicken and potatoes are tender. Then add peaches; heat, covered, 5 minutes. Serve at once, garnish with parsley. Makes 4-6 servings.

Today we tasted (and enjoyed) the "Hamburger Crunch" which reminded me greatly of the original "Rice-A-Roni" (with ground meet).

Hamburger Crunch
1 8-oz pkg. Spaghetti
2 large onions, minced
2 Tblsp salad oil
2 lb. Chuck, ground once
2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp monosodium glutamate
1 10 1/2-oz can condensed tomato soup, undiluted
1 soup-can water
1 3- or 4-oz can sliced or chopped mushrooms, drained
1 cup cut-up natural Cheddar cheese
1 tsp sugar
2 Tblsp Worcestershire
1 7-oz can salted mixed nuts, coarsely chopped

Cook spaghetti as lable directs, until barely tender; drain. In large Dutch oven, sauté onions in oil until golden. Add meat; brown until it is crumbly. Add salt, pepper, monosodium glutamate. Stir in soup, water, mushrooms, 2/3 C cheese, sugar, Worcestershire, and then spaghetti. Cover and simmer 20 minutes.

Start heating oven to 350°F. Turn spaghetti-beef mixture into 2 1/2 qt. Greased casserole. Push nuts down into mixture; sprinkle with 1/3 C cut-up cheese. Bake 30 minutes. Makes 8 to 10 servings. * For 4: Use half an 8-oz pkg. Spaghetti; half can of nuts. Prepare meat sauce as directed; freeze half of it to serve heated over cooked rice or noodles another day. Add spaghetti to half of sauce; simmer and bake as directed.

** Both dishes can be made vegetarian by substituting the meat with soy protein products.

Friendship with the World is Enmity with God

4 Blessed is the man who makes
   the LORD his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
   to those who go astray after a lie!
 (Psalm 40:4. ESV.)

Psalm 146:3: Put not your trust in princes,
in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.

An Enemy of God

What if he doesn't like that?  What if she gets offended?  What if I lose "subscribers"?  What is my problem?!  Why am I so concerned with what individuals think or say or do?  My focus SHOULD remain on God/Christ Jesus!

4 You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.  (James 4:4. ESV.)

1 John 4:5: They are from the world; therefore they speak from the world, and the world listens to them.

Luke 6:26: "Woe to you, when all people speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.

John 17:14: I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.

John 15:19: If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.

The Bottom Line

35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away.  (Matthew 24:35. ESV.)

2 Peter 3:10: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.

Isaiah 51:6: Lift up your eyes to the heavens,
   and look at the earth beneath;
 for the heavens vanish like smoke,
   the earth will wear out like a garment,
   and they who dwell in it will die in like manner;
 but my salvation will be forever,
   and my righteousness will never be dismayed.

1 Peter 1:23: since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God;

1 Peter 1:25: but the word of the Lord remains forever."
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

So God Created Man in His Own Image, Male and Female He Created Them

17 "'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
   and your young men shall see visions,
   and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
   in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
(Acts 2:17-18. ESV.)

Acts 21:8-9: 8 On the next day we departed and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 He had four unmarried daughters, who prophesied.

Daughters Shall Prophesy But Not Lead

It looks like there are an abundance of "gifts" bestowed by the Holy Spirit:
4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8 For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.  (1 Corinthians 12:4-11. ESV.)

Although prophesy is one of them regarding women, instruction and leadership over men is not:
12 I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. 13 For Adam was formed first, then Eve; 14 and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. 15 Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control.  (1 Timothy 2:12-15. ESV.)

Genesis 1:27: So God created man in his own image,
   in the image of God he created him;
    male and female he created them.

Galatians 4:4: But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,

At the university I attended, my English composition teacher/professor became highly offended and indignant when I wrote in one of my papers that women (Eve) were created from the rib of Adam.  I recall she was quite upset and advised me not to include it!  It was not until I was beyond an impressionable age I realized it was not hers to take away or tell me to exclude.  It is my belief whether she agreed or not.

Equal Yet Different

In my opinion, it is not a competition between genders. Both are important! Both are in the image of God and represent (glorify) Him. But each within his or her capacity (the scope of their work, i.e. job description, as set forth by God Himself).

10 An excellent wife who can find?
   She is far more precious than jewels.
11 The heart of her husband trusts in her,
   and he will have no lack of gain.
12 She does him good, and not harm,
   all the days of her life.
 (Proverbs 31:10-12. ESV.)

Reconciled to God by the Death of His Son

For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life.  (Romans 5:10. ESV.)

Ecen baldin etsay guinela reconciliatu içan bagara Iaincoagana haren Semearen herioaz, anhitzez areago reconciliaturic saluaturen gara haren viciaz.

Sillä jos me silloin, kun vielä olimme Jumalan vihollisia, tulimme sovitetuiksi hänen kanssaan hänen Poikansa kuoleman kautta, paljoa ennemmin me pelastumme hänen elämänsä kautta nyt, kun olemme sovitetut;

Sapagka't kung, noong tayo'y mga kaaway ay pinakipagkasundo tayo sa Dios sa pamamagitan ng kamatayan ng kaniyang Anak, lubha pa, ngayong nangagkakasundo na, ay mangaliligtas tayo sa kaniyang buhay;

Search Me, O God, and Know My Heart

139:1 O LORD, you have searched me and known me!
2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up;
   you discern my thoughts from afar.
3 You search out my path and my lying down
   and are acquainted with all my ways.
4 Even before a word is on my tongue,
   behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.
5 You hem me in, behind and before,
   and lay your hand upon me.
6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;
   it is high; I cannot attain it.

7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
   Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
   If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

9 If I take the wings of the morning
   and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
   and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
   and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
   the night is bright as the day,
   for darkness is as light with you.

13 For you formed my inward parts;
   you knitted me together in my mother's womb.
14 I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works;
   my soul knows it very well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you,
when I was being made in secret,
intricately woven in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed substance;
in your book were written, every one of them,
   the days that were formed for me,
   when as yet there was none of them.

17 How precious to me are your thoughts, O God!
   How vast is the sum of them!
18 If I would count them, they are more than the sand.
   I awake, and I am still with you.

19 Oh that you would slay the wicked, O God!
   O men of blood, depart from me!
20 They speak against you with malicious intent;
   your enemies take your name in vain!
21 Do I not hate those who hate you, O LORD?
   And do I not loathe those who rise up against you?
22 I hate them with complete hatred;
   I count them my enemies.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
   Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
   and lead me in the way everlasting!
(Psalm 139. ESV.)

Let Them Ask Their Husbands at Home

Keeping it in Context

Yesterday I was misquoted.  My words in reference to one topic had been applied to a different one in an effort (by the other individual) to make a point.  This placing of what I said, out of context, got me thinking about the Word of God and how easy it is to do the very same thing to Him!

An example of this came to my attention with 1 Corinthians 14:33-35 which says:
As in all the churches of the saints, 34 the women should keep silent in the churches. For they are not permitted to speak, but should be in submission, as the Law also says. 35 If there is anything they desire to learn, let them ask their husbands at home. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church.

1 Corinthians 14:40: But all things should be done decently and in order.

1 Corinthians 7:17: Only let each person lead the life that the Lord has assigned to him, and to which God has called him. This is my rule in all the churches.

1 Timothy 2:12: I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet.

Does this mean God does not use women as His servants? In my opinion, no. Not only do I refer to Queen Esther, Mary the mother of Christ Jesus, and Ruth but scripture also says:

Both Sons and Daughters Shall Prophesy

17 "'And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh,and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
   and your young men shall see visions,
   and your old men shall dream dreams;
18 even on my male servants and female servants
   in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
19 And I will show wonders in the heavens above
   and signs on the earth below,
   blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke;
20 the sun shall be turned to darkness
   and the moon to blood,
   before the day of the Lord comes, the great and magnificent day.
21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'
(Acts 2:17-21. ESV.)

Ezekiel 36:27: 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

Romans 5:5: 5 and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Acts 21:8-9: 8 On the next day we departed and came to Caesarea, and we entered the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 He had four unmarried daughters, who prophesied.

Acts 16:31: 31 And they said, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household."

In my opinion, it is not a competition between genders. Both are important! Both are in the image of God and represent (glorify) Him. But each within his or her capacity (the scope of their work, i.e. job description, as set forth by God Himself).

I have heard some claim the bible contains contradictions.  It is my opinion though that it is filled with balance however if verses are taken out of context, it causes confusion.

33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. (1 Corinthians 14:33. ESV.)
