The Difference Between Being Bullied and Being Healthy is Having to Make Choices

Today I read "The Spoon Theory" by Christine Miserandino and could not help but think it could be applied to those who know what it feels like to be bullied. In her explanation she is defining living with Lupus but isn't being bullied, abused, oppressed similar, in not having control over your own life and having to "consciously think about things when the rest of the world doesn't have to"?

Christine said,
I explained that the difference in being sick and being healthy is having to make choices or to consciously think about things when the rest of the world doesn’t have to. The healthy have the luxury of a life without choices, a gift most people take for granted.

I wholeheartedly believe the same can be said about those who live day to day with being bullied/abused. It takes a lot of thought and careful maneuvering.

If you are acquainted with someone who is sick or bullied, I encourage you to read Miserandino's "The Spoon Theory". You can find it at her site
